Program Overview
RECA is facilitated through Rampart’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program which prepares students for college through rigorous academic instruction in study skills, organization, note-taking, communication skills, writing, test-taking strategies, personal development and team building. AVID Elective teachers will work with students in the Early College Academy.
The benefits of Early College Academy include:
Opportunity to earn 30 General Ed. college credits, but you aren’t pigeon-hold into a major
The 30 credits are weighted
You do not need to pass an end of the year test like you do in AP or IB classes; instead, you need to pass the class
Taking rigorous classes with the support from your AVID Elective teacher
Majority of classes will be taught by Rampart teachers
Courses are offered within the school day, as part of the student’s regular schedule
This program is free
